A small deposit. A simple return.
From 1 April 2026, Singapore’s Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) introduces a 10¢ refundable deposit on eligible beverage containers carrying the official BCRS Deposit Mark.
For SodaStream Drink Mix bottles that carry the Deposit Mark, the 10¢ deposit will be added at checkout. This is a refundable deposit, not an additional product charge, and it is not subject to GST.
Your SodaStream Drink Mix still makes approximately 9 litres of sparkling drinks from one 440ml bottle, helping you make your favourite drinks at home while reducing the need for single-use drink bottles and cans.
How does BCRS work?
It's simple:
1. Check for the Deposit Mark
Look for the official BCRS Deposit Mark on your SodaStream Drink Mix bottle. Only containers with the Deposit Mark are eligible for the 10¢ refund.
2. Pay the 10¢ deposit
If your Drink Mix bottle carries the Deposit Mark, a 10¢ deposit will be added at checkout for each eligible bottle.
3. Finish your Drink Mix
Enjoy your favourite flavour and keep the empty bottle.
4. Return the bottle
Take your empty, uncrushed bottle to a participating Return Right machine.
5. Get your 10¢ back
The 10¢ deposit is refunded digitally through the available payment options, including SimplyGo EZ-Link and DBS PayLah!.

Remember: Keep your bottle intact
Before returning your empty Drink Mix bottle:
- Empty the bottle completely.
- Do not crush or flatten it.
- Keep the barcode and Deposit Mark clearly visible.
- Keep the bottle in its original shape so the Return Right machine can identify it.
What if my bottle doesn't have the Deposit Mark?
During the BCRS transition period from 1 April to 30 September 2026, you may still receive products without the Deposit Mark.
If there is no Deposit Mark, no 10¢ deposit is charged and the bottle is not eligible for a BCRS refund. You can continue to recycle it through Singapore's existing recycling channels.
From 1 October 2026, all regulated beverage products supplied in Singapore must carry the BCRS Deposit Mark and the 10¢ deposit will apply.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 10¢ a price increase?
No. It is a refundable deposit. Return your eligible empty bottle to a Return Right machine and you can claim the 10¢ back.
Does the 10¢ include GST?
No. The refundable BCRS deposit is not subject to GST.
Can I return my SodaStream Drink Mix bottle at any Return Right machine?
Yes, provided the bottle carries the official Deposit Mark and meets the return requirements. You do not need to return it to the same place where you purchased it.
Can I return a crushed bottle?
No. Keep the bottle intact and uncrushed so the machine can scan and identify it.
What about my SodaStream reusable carbonating bottle?
The BCRS applies to eligible single-use beverage containers carrying the Deposit Mark. Your reusable SodaStream carbonating bottle is not part of the BCRS deposit system.
