Whiskey Coke

refreshing carbonated cocktail

Let's start off with something simple.

The name of the drink tells you how to make it, and you are free to adjust the proportions to suit your taste.

But the sugar in Coke can put many off this easy-to-serve drink.

Instead, replace your store-bought can of coke with a bottle of homemade carbonated water flavoured with our cola drink syrups! More than just reducing carbs, our delicious mixes are a good source of vitamins B3, B6, D and E.

Our below recipe features a 1:2 alcohol-to-cola ratio for a single serving:

Recipe

  • 2 ounces of bourbon

  • 4 ounces of homemade cola

  • Lemon for garnish (optional)

Steps

Pour the whiskey into a double rocks glass with one large ice cube or a highball glass filled with ice. Top off with cola, and give it a quick, gentle stir to mix.

If you want, add a lemon twist to the top, or serve with a lemon wheel.

Vodka Cranberry

carbonated cocktail

You might think that the Vodka Cranberry drink is just vodka and cranberry juice, but it has four ingredients, making this recipe a bit more complicated than the name implies.

A proper Vodka Cranberry uses a touch of lime and orange juice to bring out the best of the cranberry flavour.

Because vodka doesn't really change the taste of cranberry juice, this cocktail would just taste like straight cranberry juice without some help. The orange and lime give hints of something sharp and bright.

Recipe

  • 1/2 cup of water

  • 10 drops liquid stevia (optional)

  • 1 cup 100% cranberry juice

  • 1 lime

  • 1/2 orange, juiced

  • Vodka to taste

Steps

Put all of the ingredients in your SodaStream bottle, and then connect the bottle to the machine. Press the lever until you hear a buzz, and then slowly let out the gas before removing the bottle.

Pour over ice, and garnish. Most people opt for a lime wheel, but you can get creative and add citrus twists or fresh cranberries!

Classic Mojito

fizzy liquids

The origin of the name of the mojito, a classic highball cocktail from Cuba, is the subject of numerous theories.

It can't be denied that this one is a pleasant crowd-pleaser, whether it comes from the Spanish word mojadito, which means "a bit moist," or from the Cuban spice mojo, produced from lime.

Here is a classic recipe that will satiate everyone's craving for a good party drink, especially in hot and humid Singapore.

This recipe yields a pitcher. Why would you want a single glass anyway?

Recipe

  • Sugar/Simple syrup/Liquid stevia (optional, to taste)

  • 10-15 mint leaves

  • 15 limes, juiced

  • 1 cup rum (adjust if necessary)

  • Sparkling water

  • Extra lime for garnish (optional)

Steps

Combine mint leaves and sugar (if using) in a pitcher and mash well with a cocktail muddler. Stir in lime juice and rum until sugar is dissolved. If garnishing, line the pitcher with lime wheels.

Pour sparkling water until the pitcher is full. Add cubes of ice if needed.

Tom Collins

sweet light splash of sweet flavor

The cocktails that stand the test of time are frequently made from simple, easy-to-find components.

Consider the Tom Collins, a traditional drink made with gin, sparkling water, lemon juice, and simple syrup.

It has everything you need to stay cool on a hot day, plus it tastes like supercharged sparkling lemonade. After just one sip, you'll quickly realise why this cocktail deserves to be considered a classic.

Recipe

  • 2 ounces gin

  • 1-ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed

  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup/liquid stevia

  • Sparkling water

  • Lemon and maraschino cherry for garnish

Steps

The Tom Collins is simple to create at home because it needs no additional equipment—not even a shaker or strainer.

Add the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup to a Collins glass. Fill with ice, top with club soda and stir. If desired, garnish with a lemon wheel and maraschino cherry.

Sparkling Wine

white wine

Want a fun trick? Use SodaStream to turn your white wine into sparkling wine! It just takes a little trial and error and some know-how.

This works best if you have a SodaStream model that allows you to adjust the carbonation level. Take your time and clean the machine right after carbonating anything other than water.

However, you can't apply this trick to every alcohol out there. This won't work on red wine due to its viscosity and high sugar content, while the carbon dioxide might alter the taste of liquors with delicate flavourings.

For example, tequila and gin are better off mixed with sparkling water than carbonating directly from your SodaStream machine.
